What is TriviaTies?
TriviaTies is a live trivia hosting platform. Hosts create events with questions, players join on their devices, and scores update in real-time. It works for bars, corporate events, schools, and anywhere people want to play trivia together.
How do players join a trivia event?
Players scan a QR code or enter a join code on their phone. They can create a new team or join an existing one. No app download required — it works in any mobile browser.
Do I need special equipment?
Just a device for hosting (laptop or tablet) and optionally a TV or projector for the display. Players use their own phones. No dedicated hardware, no app installs.
Can I use it for remote or hybrid events?
Yes. Since everything runs through the browser, players can participate from anywhere. Share your screen for the projector display, or let remote players follow along on their own devices.
Billing & Trial
How does the free trial work?
Sign up and you get 14 days of Pro features — no credit card required. When the trial ends, your account moves to the free Starter tier. You keep all your data and can upgrade anytime.
What's included in the free Starter plan?
Up to 5 teams per event, 10 questions per event, real-time gameplay, and basic scoring. It's enough to run small events and get a feel for the platform.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your organization settings. Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period, then you move to the free Starter tier. No data is deleted.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. For Enterprise plans with annual invoicing, contact us.
Technical
Do you have an API?
Yes. Pro plans and above get API key access with scoped permissions, rate limiting, and audit logs. See our developer docs for details.
Do you support webhooks?
Yes. Configure webhooks to get real-time notifications when events happen in your account — answer submissions, event completions, score changes. Payloads are HMAC-signed with automatic retries.
How is my data stored?
All data is stored in PostgreSQL on AWS infrastructure in the US West region. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Export questions, answers, scores, and analytics from the app. Large exports run as background jobs — you'll get a download link when ready.
