Cancellation and Refund Policy

1. Cancellation

You may cancel your TriviaTies subscription at any time through the billing settings in your organization dashboard (Stripe Customer Portal). There are no cancellation fees or penalties.

How cancellation works:

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to all paid features until that date.
  • After your billing period ends, your organization transitions to the Free (Starter) tier. You will still have access to core trivia hosting with up to 5 teams and 10 questions per event.
  • All your data (questions, events, teams, media, analytics) is preserved on the free tier. Nothing is deleted when you cancel or downgrade.

California AB 2863 compliance: You can cancel your subscription online through your billing settings in the same number of steps or fewer as it took to subscribe. No phone call or additional steps are required.

2. Free Trial

New organizations receive a 14-day free trial with Pro-level features.

  • No credit card is required to start a trial.
  • At the end of the trial, your organization automatically transitions to the Free (Starter) tier. You will not be charged.
  • One trial is available per organization.
  • During the trial, you can upgrade to a paid plan at any time. Upgrading ends the trial and begins your paid subscription immediately.

3. Refund Policy

Subscription fees are non-refundable. Because subscriptions can be canceled at any time and access continues through the end of the paid period, we do not offer prorated refunds for unused time.

Exceptions: We may issue refunds at our discretion in the following cases:

  • Billing errors: If you were charged an incorrect amount due to a system error
  • Extended service disruption: If the Service was materially unavailable for an extended period (evaluated case-by-case)

4. Tier Changes

Upgrades

Upgrades take effect immediately. You will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period at the new tier’s rate.

Downgrades

Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period. You will retain access to your current tier’s features until then. If your organization exceeds the lower tier’s limits (e.g., more teams per event than allowed), existing data is preserved but you will not be able to create new items beyond the new limits.

5. Payment Failures

If a payment fails, we will notify you by email. Your subscription enters a 7-day grace period during which you retain full access to your paid features.

  • During the grace period, you can update your payment method through the billing settings (Stripe Customer Portal).
  • If payment is not resolved within the grace period, your subscription may be canceled and your organization transitioned to the Free (Starter) tier.
  • All data is preserved regardless of payment status.

6. Account Deletion

Organization owners may request complete deletion of their organization and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@triviaties.com.

Upon receiving a verified deletion request:

  • All organization data (questions, events, teams, media, member associations) will be permanently deleted within a reasonable timeframe (typically 30-90 days).
  • This action is irreversible.
  • Individual user accounts can be deleted separately from organization data.
